WoW - The Chinese are Coming!
Since the release of The Burning Crusade in China last month, the Chinese have been launching an all-out assault. Accounts and play time has risen, and on Oct. 4th the all time Chinese record was set with 800,000 players online simultaneously! China already accounts for more than half of the worldwide WoW population, with no end to the growth in sight. That's not all that has been growing... numerous deaths have been linked to gaming binges that last from 72 hours to 15 days straight! And I thought I was bad. The addiction is getting so out of hand that boot camps have been set up for online addicts in which families pay up to $1200 dollars to 'cure' sufferers of their addiction. Damn, I don't know which servers these people are on, but I sure don't want to tangle with them anytime soon. Remember, gang - it's only a game - take a break and get outside once in a while... but level up quickly and get some rare gear because... The Chinese Are Coming!
Don't be fooled by the latest gold scam...
It appears that some guy calling himself GM Gerald is claiming that Blizzard is giving away free gold to all of its members - 100g for every month you've been a member, actually. SCAM. According to Gerald, all you have to do is send an email to a hotmail address (yes, he wants us to believe that Blizz is using hotmail addys these days) and they'll send you the gold. According to visitors to this site, all you'll receive in return is spam email with no way to stop them. Thanks to Josh for giving us the heads up to this scam.
Stop Grinding for weeks and weeks and have FUN for crying out loud!
I want to make two points here, and they are two very important points. First, nothing is more satisfying that leveling up. Nothing. Every single time you gain a new level, you have just opened up the game that much more. You are now eligible for new armor, new weapons, new abilities, your attributes have gotten stronger etc. Great. Now get back out there and grind for five days straight until you get that next level. Huh? That's right, go stand in the middle of nowhere killing everything you see so your experience will go up. Kind of disappointing, isn't it? You, my friend, are doing the same thing thousands of other WoW gamers are doing - wasting your time. This game should be about questing, gaining faction, and meeting new people with absolutely no wasted time - none.
Point number two: Speed Leveling is not a bad, or illegal thing. It isn't. In fact, it is exactly what you are meant to be doing - getting from level 1 to level 70 in the shortest amount of time possible. Please do not confuse speed leveling with what people on WoW forums or on eBay call 'power leveling'. Powerleveling products will only have you grinding for hours or may even use a cheat or hack that could result in Blizzard banning your character. Speed leveling is leveling super quickly by actually questing and enjoying the game 24/7 - 100% legal, and 100% fun. When I first started playing WoW, I couldn't wait to join a guild. The feeling of brotherhood, knowing that I was never truly alone wherever I was, like-leveled characters growing together and getting promoted for hard work as time went on. Well, let's just say that my first go around with a guild was very disappointing indeed. My 'band of brothers (and sisters, too)' was nothing more than an incompetent leader calling for meetings every other day and then taking 30 minutes just to calm everyone down. Nothing informative ever was ever talked about, and all the leaders friends were immediately promoted to 'Right Hand Defenders of the Leader' (wtf?). We did have cool tabards, though. Perhaps my expectations were set too high. "Maybe this is what every Guild does." I thought. Wrong. Dead-wrong. From that day on, I vowed that I would not settle for just any guild I was asked to join. I came up with a list of questions that I would ask the recruiter. Using these techniques, I finally joined a guild that had clear goals, and a very stable hierarchy. Then I got to the point in the game that I had been longing and training for - starting my own World of Warcraft Guild. I knew from everything I had learned that I was ready. But, it was not as easy as I had thought. Recruiting was a nightmare and getting the structure into place with only a few members was equally as hard. I decided to ask my old guild leader how he managed to set up such a dominating guild, and he introduced me to the Guild Creation Guide, probably the best WoW tool I have ever purchased. This easy to read guide walked me through every aspect of guild creation and set me up with the tools I needed to now run one of the largest, longest-running guilds on my server. If starting a guild has been a goal of yours as well, I wouldn't even think of doing it without this guide in your possession.

What's the first thing you bought right after you realized you were 'hooked' with WoW? The game guide from your local GameStop or Barnes and Noble. Yeah, me too. Sure, it was somewhat helpful in describing the various classes and which professions could produce which items... but I wanted tips. Tips and real tutorials. I was sick and tired of being the broke character while everyone else in my Guild was sporting the sickest armor and weapons. I also knew that I didn't want to pay hundreds of dollars to Chinese Gold Farmers and even risk being banned from WoW.
